What does treatment feel like, and how long does it take?
You may feel heat and discomfort as the handpiece delivers ultrasound energy. Topical numbing may be used. Treatment commonly takes about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the area; allow additional time for preparation. Your provider will explain the comfort measures available.
When will I see results, and will I need more than 1 treatment?
Improvement develops over weeks to months as your skin responds. Some patients begin with 1 treatment, then return for an assessment before deciding on additional sessions. The amount and timing of improvement vary. Sofwave does not stop the aging process, and future treatment may be recommended.
What recovery and side effects should I plan for?
Many patients resume usual activities promptly, but redness, swelling, and tenderness can occur. Other possible effects include pain, bruising, pigment changes, persistent redness or swelling, and skin injury. Your provider will review the risks relevant to you and give you aftercare instructions.
Who may need to avoid or postpone Sofwave?
Sofwave should not be used over open wounds, severe or cystic acne, or electronic implants in the treatment area. Tell your provider about pregnancy or breastfeeding, infections, skin conditions, implants, medicines, and recent procedures. The manufacturer advises against treatment directly over dermal fillers. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical guidance.
Does Sofwave replace a facelift or reduce fat?
Sofwave is not a fat reduction treatment and does not remove excess skin. It may help with modest lifting and tightening, but it cannot provide the same degree of change as surgery. Your consultation should establish whether the improvement you want is realistic with this treatment.
