What is Collagen P.I.N. microneedling?
Collagen P.I.N. is the professional microneedling device used at Cortina. It creates precise, controlled microchannels in the skin. Its FDA cleared indication is improving the appearance of facial acne scars in adults age 22 and older with Fitzpatrick Skin Types I through III. Use outside that indication is considered individually.
How many microneedling treatments will I need?
The number varies by concern, baseline skin, and response. A series may be recommended. Additional sessions are $500 each.
When might treatment need to be postponed?
Treatment is usually postponed when the area has a tan or sunburn, active infection or rash, a current cold sore, open skin, or deep or painful acne, especially when breakouts contain pus. Microneedling may not be appropriate for people who heal poorly, form keloid scars, have a weakened immune system or bleeding disorder, have uncontrolled diabetes, or are receiving certain cancer treatments. Tell Dr. Weiffenbach about all medical conditions, recent procedures, and medicines, especially isotretinoin and blood thinners. Collagen P.I.N. should not be used during pregnancy or while nursing. Do not stop prescribed medicine unless the prescribing clinician directs you to do so.
What should I expect after treatment?
Temporary redness or darker coloration, tightness, dryness, roughness, swelling, tenderness, itching, burning, discomfort, bruising, pinpoint bleeding, crusting, or peeling may occur. These reactions usually improve within a few days to a week, although some effects may last longer. Less common risks include infection, pigment changes that may persist, cold sore reactivation, and scarring. Recovery varies by treatment and individual response.
