What Fraxel can improve
Fraxel DUAL treats small zones of skin with laser energy, leaving surrounding tissue untreated to support healing. Its 2 wavelengths allow your provider to select treatment for pigment, texture, or certain scars.
- Sun damage and brown spotsMay improve selected sun spots, freckles, and uneven brown pigment after evaluation.
- Fine lines and rough textureMay soften fine lines and improve the appearance of uneven skin texture.
- Acne and surgical scarsMay improve certain scars. Scar type, depth, and healing history affect the treatment plan.
A new, changing, bleeding, or otherwise concerning spot needs a medical evaluation before cosmetic laser treatment.

How much recovery time should I plan for?
Plan for several days of visible redness, swelling, dryness, or flaking. Skin may temporarily look bronzed. Recovery depends on the treatment area, settings, and your healing response; some effects can last longer. Discuss travel and important events before choosing a treatment date. Follow your aftercare instructions, use broad spectrum sunscreen, and protect treated skin from sun exposure.
What does Fraxel treatment feel like?
Topical numbing and cooling may be used for comfort. You may feel heat or prickling during treatment and a sunburn sensation afterward. Comfort varies with the treatment area and settings. Protective eyewear is required during treatment.
When will I see results, and how many treatments will I need?
Some improvement may become visible as your skin heals, with further changes over the following months. A single session may help some concerns; others may need a series. Your provider will recommend the number and spacing based on your skin and response. A treatment package does not guarantee a particular result.
Is Fraxel suitable for my skin tone?
Skin tone, recent tanning, past pigment changes, and healing history affect suitability. Laser treatment can cause lighter or darker areas of skin, and that risk differs between patients. Your provider will assess whether Fraxel and its expected recovery are appropriate for you or whether another option would be preferable.
What should I discuss before treatment?
Tell your provider about cold sores, skin infections, inflammation, unusual scarring, recent sun exposure, previous procedures, and all medicines, including isotretinoin and systemic steroids. These factors may change your treatment timing or preparation. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical guidance.
What are the risks?
Possible risks include burns, blistering, infection, prolonged redness, delayed healing, scarring, and temporary or permanent pigment changes. Eye injury is also possible without proper protection. Your provider will review the risks relevant to you and explain when to contact the clinic during recovery.
